PRESS RELEASE

Ft. M 2017 for the winter.

Due to the concerns with getting boats out of the water in time and enjoying the lake a few more weeks, the City of Marlborough and Town of Hudson will delay the drawdown of Fort Meadow Reservoir for two weeks.   The drawdown will now begin two weeks later on Monday, October 16, 2017.  The drawdown will result in a four-foot drop from the normal highwater level of the reservoir.  Approximately 15-20 days will be needed to draw the reservoir down 4 feet (weather permitting), which translates into a daily drop of about 2-3 inches.  Once we reach the 4-foot drop we will keep the lake water level down through the winter and begin refilling the lake on or before March 1, 2018.

As noted in the previous press release, this year’s draw down is to allow for:

  • Weed Control both in lake and shoreline
  • Control of the Asian Clam
  • Removal of accumulated sand from storm drains/ drain repair
  • Repairs of walls and beaches and
  • Repair of the culvert on Rte. 85 (Bolton St.)
