HYDRANT FLUSHING – FALL 2018
The Town of Hudson will begin hydrant flushing on Monday, October 1st and will continue until completion. Crews will work from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and from 3:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Crews will start on Chestnut Street and will work toward Lake Boone.
Hydrant flushing is essential to maintaining healthy and clean drinking water for our residents. The flushing process clears sediment and mineral deposits and buildups from water main pipes. It is also essential for many public safety reasons – it serves as quality assurance that all the hydrants are working as necessary, and it ensures that there will be proper water pressure for firefighting.
While we are flushing the hydrants, you may notice that your water may become discolored. Don’t panic! The discolored water does not pose an actual health risk; it is just a discoloration due to mineral sediments flushing through the hydrants. To resolve, run all the cold water faucets in your house for about 10 minutes until the water runs clear.
You may experience low water pressure while the hydrants are flushing. This is strictly short term and will subside when we finish flushing.
If you continue to experience low water pressure or discolored water, or if you have any questions, call the office at 978-562-9333.
