What is a Master Plan?
A Master Plan is a comprehensive long range plan intended to guide growth and development of a community or region. It includes analysis, recommendations, and proposals for the community’s population, economy, housing, transportation, preservation, energy, community facilities, and land use. It is based on public input, surveys, planning initiatives, existing development, physical characteristics, and social and economic conditions. Click here for more Frequently Asked Questions.

Previous Plans
The Town’s last Master Plan dates from 1964. (This plan is available under the Documents section.) But the Town has many comprehensive planning documents that it has worked on over the years, including the Community Development Plan, the Community Preservation Plan & the Open Space Plan. In addition, as part of the Community
Development Block Grant application process, the Town updates its Community Development Strategy every one to two years. The Community Development Strategy is an abridged planning document that incorporated goals for the Town with respect to development, housing, transportation, preservation and energy.

After an intense process, the Master Plan Steering Committee has chosen the consulting firm of Vanasse Hangen Brustlin, Inc. (VHB) as the firm to carry out Hudson's Master Planning process. VHB will work under the advisory guidance of the Steering Committee with policy direction from the Planning Board.
