*** Release of the Full Draft Plan ***
Thursday June 26, 2014 ~ 7:00 PM
Town Hall Auditorium

We have held all of our specific-topic based forums, at least one for each element of interest.  Our initial public outreach process is now complete, & all of the DRAFT chapters have been released.   The DRAFT document is available in its entirety and available for public comment, with comments due back by July 31.
Once public comments are incorporated, the finalized plan will be released at a public meeting of the Planning Board .  This extensive community-wide input will help Hudson continue to be a great place to live, work and play.

We greatly thank all participants for your assistance and cooperation throughout this extensive process.  Your input is critical to the Master Plan and we truly value your opinion.  This extensive community-wide input will help Hudson continue to be a great place to live, work and play.

What is a Master Plan?
A Master Plan is a comprehensive long range plan intended to guide growth and development of a community or region.  It includes analysis, recommendations, and proposals for the community’s population, economy, housing, transportation, preservation, energy, community facilities, and land use.  It is based on public input, surveys, planning initiatives, existing development, physical characteristics, and social and economic conditions.  Click here for more Frequently Asked Questions.

The Master Plan Steering Committee
A Steering Committee has been appointed by the Board of Selectmen to help guide the planning process.  The Steering Committee is made up of one or more individuals representing the following Boards, Commissions or Departments:

  • Board of Selectmen
  • Finance Committee
  • School Committee
  • Planning Board
  • Council on Aging
  • Conservation Commission
  • Historic District Commission
  • Economic Development Commission
  • Housing Authority
  • Board of Health
  • Light & Power

Previous Plans
The Town’s last Master Plan dates from 1964.  (This plan is available under the Documents section.)  But the Town has many comprehensive planning documents that it has worked on over the years, including the Community Development Plan, the Community Preservation Plan & the Open Space Plan. In addition, as part of the Community Development Block Grant application process, the Town updates its Community Development Strategy every one to two years.  The Community Development Strategy is an abridged planning document that incorporated goals for the Town with respect to development, housing, transportation, preservation and energy.

Consultant Selection
After an intense process, the  Master Plan Steering Committee has chosen the consulting firm of Vanasse Hangen Brustlin, Inc. (VHB) as the firm to carry out Hudson's Master Planning process.  VHB will work under the advisory guidance of the Steering Committee with policy direction from the Planning Board.
