Are you or someone you know caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s Disease? CARE-PLUS, is a research study conducted by Boston University’s Alzheimer’s Disease Center (BU-ADC), for caregivers of individuals with Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) that are having trouble managing some of the common behavioral problems associated with the disease. The goal of the CARE-PLUS study is to determine whether caregiver-based intervention can reduce behavior problems in individuals with AD and improve caregiver’s emotional well being. The individual with AD is not involved in the study in any way. CARE-PLUS is a 5 week group intervention (90 minutes each session). These sessions will offer information on AD, its symptoms, tips for improving communication and interaction, and
strategies for reducing caregiver stress.
I am very excited to report that the Hudson Senior Center has been asked to participate in this wonderful project. If we can recruit at least 5 people who are interested in this study and will commit to the 5 week program, we can have the program here at the Hudson Senior Center. Please call Janice 978-568-9638 if you are interested in this FREE program. For more detailed information about this study, please call Alicia Semiatin, Study Coordinator at 617-353-9124.
