RENOVATION NEWS FOR JANUARY 2008
January 16th will be the last day to register to vote for the February 5th Presidential Primary and Special Town Election. The Town Clerk’s Office is extending their hours on January 16th from 8am till 8pm. The Special Town Election includes a ballot question for the Hudson Senior Center Renovation/Addition Project. I would like to remind everyone that the cost estimates for this project is on the Town of Hudson website as well as the Senior Center website. These estimates, as well as the feasibility study itself, have been available on the websites since last February 07. Please note that also included in the cost estimates are the professional fees, hazardous material testing,
borings for underground testing, special equipment i.e., kitchen equipment, insurances, utility back charges, and contingency costs for unforeseen issues that may come up.
As mentioned last month, we will be having an Open House on three different days in January. Monday Jan. 14th, a building tour 5:30-6, and another building tour at 7PM, Wed. Jan. 23rd 10-2pm and Saturday Jan. 26th 10-2 pm. We would like to invite the public to take a walk through the center to view for yourselves the building features worthy of preserving and the areas of the structure that are in critical need of upgrade. Also on January 14th at 6pm, we will have an Open Public Meeting to discuss a possible next round of funding for the project. We will discuss the Community Development Block Grant and consider weather or not the
town should apply for funding to support the construction cost. Michelle Ciccolo, Assistant Administrator /Director of Community Development, will conduct this meeting and take your feedback. She will also update us on the status of the existing design effort now underway with CDBG funds. Please put this date on your calendar!
