How many bills will I receive each year?
Bills are issued on a quarterly basis, approximately every three months.
What time period does this water/sewer bill cover?
The consumption period dates (billed from and billed to) are located on the front of your bill.
What are the current water rates?
The current water rate is $2.26 per 100 cubic feet of water usage. The current sewer rate is $2.80 per 100 cubic feet of usage.
Why is my water bill so high?
Water bills can vary in amount from one quarter to another due to various reasons including (but not limited to):
Consumption/Usage
Seasonal Use (i.e. lawn sprinkling, pool filling…etc)
Possible leaks, if you believe your water service is leaking please contact the water billing office at (978) 562-9333
How do I get a final water reading?
Contact water billing at 978-562-9333 to schedule a final reading.
Why do I have an interest charge on my bill?
Interest accrues daily at a rate of 14% per annum from the due date of the bill to the date of the payment.
What is an Arrearage?
An Arrearage appears when the previous bill(s) remain unpaid. The amount is equal to the outstanding principal and interest.
I recently purchased this property, and received a water bill with consumption dates prior to purchase, what should I do?
In a case such as this you should first refer to your settlement documents. In most cases the “buyer” will receive a credit for water/sewer not yet billed. If you believe this is not the case, please contact your closing attorney.
Why did I receive a notice of intent to lien?
This notice is issued to inform taxpayers of a delinquent amount. If the account remains outstanding the delinquent amount from July 1 through June 30 of the previous fiscal year will be added to the Actual Real Estate taxes for the current fiscal year issued on or around January 1.
