Home Care & Long-Term Care Assistance Programs

There are many federal programs that are administered by the state through a local Aging Service Access Point (ASAP).  Bay Path Elder Services is the local ASAP that services Hudson.  These programs were designed to expand services to those individuals who are medically nursing home eligible to receive home care services.  To be eligible for these programs, an individual must:

  • Be an ASAP client (age 60 or older)
  • Be a Massachusetts resident
  • Meet criterion for nursing home eligibility as determined by a Home Care RN
  • Meet income and asset guidelines.   If a client is married, Mass Health will not count the spouse’s income.  Depending on income, there may be a co-payment for services.

These programs have helped many seniors get the services they need at home without having to enter a nursing facility.  They have also relieved families from the burden of having to pay for private home care services to supplement what they are providing.  These programs also entitle seniors to plenty of Mass Health benefits, such as transportation to medical appointments, Lifeline Emergency Response Buttons, and even Adult Day Health coverage.

If you or someone you know thinks they may qualify. please contact our local ASAP - Bay Path Elder Services at 508-872-1866.  As always, please feel free to contact the Center.  Keep in mind that SHINE counselors at the Senior Center can assist with the Mass Health Application for this program and all other Mass Health programs.
