New Program for January 2015

  • Clutter Support Group - Beginning in January 2015, 1st & 3rd Wednesday of the month, 6:00 PM, cost = FREE, ALL ages welcome. Is clutter taking over your environment or creating a safety issue?  Does clutter prevent you from having people over?  We are forming a peer support group for individuals who struggle with acquiring & sorting.  Research from the book Buried in Treasures suggests that a support group is one of the most effective ways to change problematic acquiring  & discarding behaviors. Join this group to receive support from others & develop stratgies to declutter our homes.  For more information, email or call Ana at the Center.
  • Stress Reduction with Qigong - Tuesdays, 9:30 AM, cost = $3 per class, payable to the instructor before class.  Are you interested in reducing the stress in your life & better coping with the day-to-day activities making demands on your time?  This class may be right for you.  The class utilizes both a western approach based on the work of Dr. Herbert Benson of Harvard University, & Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn of UMASS, in combination with simple, easy to learn qigong exercises.
  • Caregiver Support - The Hudson Senior Center uderstands the many ups & downs to being a caregiver.  Many services are available, offering support, education, respite or even just peace of mind knowing that someone has checked in on a loved one.  Click here to visit our Caregiver Support page.
  • Friendly Visitor Program - Cost = FREE.  A program designed to combat the lonliness & isolation of home-bound seniors, this program provides visits twice a month for an hour or more by a friendly visitor for conversation, recreation, walking, reading, music, games, puzzles, etc.  Visitors are matched with seniors based on shared interests, physical location, volunteer ability & personality.  (Friendly visitors DO NOT clean house, move furniture, bathe, manicure, personal care, or transport individuals.)  Call the Senior Center to schedule.  Click here for flyer.
  • "Are You OK?" Program -  Cost = FREE.  Offered by the Hudson Police Department, this program provides a daily check-in for seniors and disabled individuals.  This as a great program for seniors that may live alone, are diabled, prone to falls or are simply in need of someone checking in on them. The “Are You O.K.?” Program makes daily automated, computerized phone calls to individuals in the morning between the hours of 7:00 AM - 10:00 AM.  If members cannot be contacted within a 15-minute period, an alert is issued.  Police then may call a neighbor or family member to check in with the resident or may dispatch a cruiser to the home to perform a safety check, if necessary.   • Daybreak Adult Daycare/Caregiver Respite Program - Thursdays, 11:30 - 2:30, at the Senior Center.  Voluntary Donation = $15 per day.  A nutritious lunch and snacks will also be provided.  This is a good transitional start for anyone who may eventually need eventual facility care.  Click here for more information.
