TIER CHARGE

There is a new stormwater line within your bill which will assist the Town of Hudson to comply with the Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems (MS4). This is an unfunded federally regulated permit that is issued by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for stormwater discharges within local waterbodies. To comply with the MS4 Permit, the average Fiscal Year 2024-2026 costs $1.1 Million annually.

Why Am I Receiving this Bill? Town meeting in May 2023, and select board meetings after have authorized Public works to implement a Stormwater Enterprise fund. Higher impervious areas create more stormwater runoff and a higher burden on our systems. Our systems contain thousands of catch basins and stormwater manholes, over 100 stormwater discharge points, and 70 Miles of stormwater pipes. In order to be equitable, your parcel is charged by your impervious area. For a breakdown of charges, please see: https://www.townofhudson.org/department-public-works/stormwater-division/pages/stormwater-utility-fees

Where Does the Money Go?

Revenue from the stormwater fees will go to stormwater infrastructure repair and maintenance, program administration, regulatory compliance and enforcement and capital improvement projects. These operations will help limit flooding on streets and safely transport stormwater into streams and other water bodies.
